ATA is a private, non-profit institution that is dedicated to the study and conservation of the Colombian ecosystem, with an emphasis on man and his cultural manifestations, through education and community programs that contribute to sustainable development. The symbol of ATA, the inverted toad, was chosen from the chibcha number codex because it means “common goods”. ATA has been operating since 1983 for philanthropic purposes that have to do especially with Colombian culture: This is how in its statutes approved by resolution of the Government of Antioquia number 38279 of July 19, 1991 it is said: “… ATA is a private institution, non-profit organization that is dedicated to the study and conservation of the Colombian ecosystem, with an emphasis on man and his cultural manifestations, through education and community programs that contribute to sustainable development …”
One of the facets of ATA has been the compilation of news references, lists, records, figures, sound iconographies and, in general, multimedia files, in a documentation center specialized in Ornithology and associated Flora. The genesis center of the various ATA publications is frequently consulted by nationals and foreigners at its headquarters. ATA products are subsidized thanks to the continuous contribution of its partners, represented in research, studies, works and materials that they donate to the Institution. Some productions have been sponsored by companies that are friends of the foundation through co-editions, which, It multiplies the effort and helps to distribute the material. A high percentage of the products are distributed free of charge, however ATA has a system of sale from its offices by direct mail against national consignment. The proceeds in their entirety feed a revolving fund that finances its own projects or those of other foundations that deal with community education. The foundation has chosen birds as the protagonists of many of its works, due to the important role they play in the ecosystem, by disseminating and pollinating forests, sources of water, air and therefore of life! ATA has a minimal staffing plant that it hopes to retain, so that it can dedicate all its resources to meeting its objectives.
